"You probably won't be surprised to learn that my tip came from ATI. The ATI folks say they were studying the Detonator FX driver's new filtering routines, to see what they could learn, when they discovered this quirk. (Some have claimed NVIDIA was the original source for the Quake/Quack debacle, but I have no first-hand knowledge about that.) Regardless, we felt compelled to test the Detonator FX drivers to see if the allegations were true. So we gathered up a GeForce FX 5800 Ultra, a GeForce FX 5600, and a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra for a little benchmarking session. We brought along our typing fingers, so we could rename "3DMark03.exe" to "3DMurk03.exe" and see what happened. Our results follow. "

Becouse the quake3 CHEAT the ati was useing was exposed by NVIDA..

Looking at nvida drivers to try to help them devope thier own.... probubly decomplieing as we speak... so basicly ati barrows form nvida hard work ... great idea to save money, skill, and effort.. in makeing thier drivers
they both cheat will we ever get over it someday

HAHA!

Why do they assume that nobody will catch them? Why? Especially if you're producing drivers for a MASS MARKET. I could understand if the drivers were used by the select few. But NVidia is a leader in the graphic cards' industry. NVidiocy is the perfect word here. What's worse is that, THEY caught ATI doing a similar thing way back when. STUPID!

No we will not get over it, we will NOT accept nvidia is continuing to cheat!!

"so basicly ati barrows form nvida hard work"

Riight

Sure they take a look on Nvidia drivers works, but i have the feeling that Nvidia does the same. Funny to see how their aniso and ffsa has been optimised wildly in the last months, i say THEY ARE STEEEEALING IT FROM ATI, but I have no fucking proof to support my theori and neither do you. You don't have any proof at all, you don't know if any of nvidia techniques have been used in ATI drivers, your only guessing and trying to make ATI the bad guy here, when in fact Nvidia is cheating there asses of to keep the pase.

Sad Sad.

Not the news, I'm loving the hell out of it...I'm just disapointed to see how slow y'all are getting around here.

This was posted about 3 hours earlier here....

Everyone has put me on their ignore list here, right? Or is it just because I can't post to the news page anymore?

If they really wanted to cheat effectively they should have looked for the memory addresses of 3dmark and not just the name of the file. With my experiance of hacking (shhh) looking for a memory address thats one value than another value consistantly with each run of the program can give them and effective starting point on the locations of the adresses of specific things in memory. They won't need to use program names and by looking for a dynamic value it is much harder to detect by the program itself. (The Half-Life engine is a great starting point for anyone looking to get into hacking, its very simple)

Basicly what I'm trying to say is that they probably didn't spend very much time on the "optimisations" they only did things they saw that they could instantly exploit. It would have been sort of cool if they used acctual skill in implimenting these cheats, but doing something as lame as that is just terrible.

3DMark2001SE ???
G2 400MMX at home .... 21 tests ........... 3086 ....... 1.5 Celeron untouched ............

Sucked for gameplay ... 2994 worked well and retained graphics latency ........

Louie hit big numbers on a 1.4 AMD thunderbird and G2 (4000's if I remember correctly).
Upon playing a DVD movie quality sucked ........

FutureMark's numbers mean very little to peeps that are actually using there Puter for a purpose
