Nokia Cell Phones with Stalin Wallpaper Show Up in Russia
I'm not sure why this is such a surprise. In a recent poll Josef Stalin was deemed the third-greatest Russian of all time. Based on that, why wouldn't Russians want cell phones with Stalin wallpaper?

Re: Nokia Cell Phones with Stalin Wallpaper Show Up in Russia
actually he made that much worse than it actually should have been. part of the soviets military problems were directly linked to the fact that he had 'purged' most of the militaries best leaders. u combine that with th rest of his 'ideas' on how things should be done & it was a disaster.
not taking anything awat from all the brave & selfless acts that were performed by russian soldiers & citizens during ww2 just sayin stalin was directly & indirectly responsible for a whole lot of uneeded deaths in that war. let alone the millions he killed thru 'purges' & famines thru his forced agriculture policies. still debate today wether the ukranian famine was actually by design- a form of genocide.

Re: Nokia Cell Phones with Stalin Wallpaper Show Up in Russia
On the other hand he learned from the early problems and allowed the generals to handle the war more and more autonomously, going in the direct opposite of the german political high command. I don't doubt that Stalin would have been able to use food supply in such a mannor, especially as it was a common way to control people in various regions of the predating tsarist Russia. The early Soviet leaders didn't have any higher moral standard preceeding them so a character like Stalin could certainly be expected to use any known means to rein in an empire. By the way it's a bit sad that Ukraines agriculture still to this day remains highly undeveloped, when they have such superb soil. On the other hand, give it another fifty years and we may all want to import some natural soil from them.
