Apple Quietly Upgrades Its Entry-Level MacBook Specs

Since when does Apple do anything quietly, sans publicity? OK, OK, they do. In this case enGadget noticed that Apple has silently upgraded the specs on their entry level white MacBook to be more in line with their newer unibody models.

Re: Apple Quietly Upgrades Its Entry-Level MacBook Specs

i don't think they really want people buying the cheaper white models over the unibody, but the white models still have a few benefits when compared to the new models - roughly similiar specs (same cpu, same chipset, same amount of ram, though dd2, not ddr3) for a lower price, and retains a firewire port - really handy for those who dabble in music or video work

the real beneftis the AL unibody design has are the enclosure - better heat dissipation, it's about 200g lighter, slightly thinner (that does make a difference when you're trying to pack it into a bag) and the multi-touch trackpad - i can't stress enough how awesome that is in OS X, though almost all of what I use it for is also supported on the macbook white's trackpad -two finger scrolling, tapping and drag lock

I really don't like the unibody thing, only because it makes it impossible to change the battery and I think the hard drive too. In a laptop that is just stupid IMO.

999 for it, not bad!

In Greece it is 990, euros that is and not for the same specs Hint, it's not better.
