NEC ND-1100A Firmware Update

The Firmware Forum have obtained a new firmware update for owners of the NEC ND-1100A DVD+R/RW writer. Version 1.A1 should only be used on drives that have the 1.A0 firmware.

Fixes:

1. Adds Black Media Support,
2. Support for Business Card sized media,
3. Increased media support, and
4. Write strategy changes

Also check this page for reactions (note: some people are having contradicting/varing results from great to worse so bakup your firmware before flashing as you can always go back)

Finally theres a guide here on how to turn the ND-1000A [2x] into the ND-1100A [4x].

I did this, and it WORKS, my DVD burner is now 4x AND region free !.... not bad for £99 !!!!

Glad to hear you did it!

To others that have an 1100A/1100A, be very careful when flashing, don't flash from Windows - only from DOS. I almost killed my 1100A (well, I did kill it) but, was able to get it working again after a few trys.
