Ludicrously priced laptops: Apple, HP, Sony

Some laptops, especially ultraportables, brazenly push the envelope on pricing. In the age of the ultra-cheap Netbook, are they really worth the $2,000 to $3,000 price tag? I've listed three egregious offenders and two that fall into the less-scandalous-but-still-snooty pricing category.

Re: Ludicrously priced laptops: Apple, HP, Sony

Anyone spending $2,000 or more on a laptop is nuts. Why spend that much on something that is more or less already slower than the desktop, getting out of date faster than anything else and can me broken, lost or stolen faster than you could ever want...

My friend got his laptop stolen from a hotel room (must have been the maid) but lucky for him it was not expensive at all other than losing everything on it and having to buy a new one he is not at that great of a loss. I could only see how pissed he would be if it was over 2,000.

I understand why everyone wants light small laptop's, but I would be to scared to travel with it just for those reasons lol.

if I need to travel i will just take a netbook!

I've got a first-gen macbook air, purchased it for just under AU$2000 (US$1300)

the newer nVidia based models are a little over priced imo
