iPhone's Not So Hot -- Try Windows Phones, Ballmer Says
"The real market momentum with operators and the real market momentum with device manufacturers seems to primarily be with Windows Mobile and Android." That's Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's alternate reality take on the smartphone market, expressed to analysts during a midyear update in New York. While he acknowledged that Apple's iPhone has "consumer market mojo," he suggested that it does not have the same market potential as the mobile platforms controlled by Microsoft and Google.

as it stands, windows mobile is probably a better option than the iphone OS for business and corporate use, but if MS really want to challenge apple, they really need to revamp their UI

But really as cool as the Iphone may be it really is a basic phone... Sure it has a lot of apps, but like you said it can't do word docs, and tons of other business needs other than what you might be able to find via the app store. But I really think Microsoft should maybe create a dummy UI for some phones and then the tons of feature UI for business people. And of course Microsoft and Google will have the market share. It is just clear between the 2 that they will collect just about all smart phone users that are not on AT&T and even some that are if you did not buy the Iphone. So the market share is going to be way bigger. Just think if Apple released the Iphone to all the companies how it would just take over kind of like the razor did until something else came out better like the "smart phone". |
