Live blog: iPhone OS 3.0 preview

This is the spot for live coverage of Apple's iPhone 3.0 event later today from Apple headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., which kicked off at 10 a.m. PDT.

Apple plans to preview the new operating system and discuss a new software development kit, according to an invitation it sent out last week. We also might finally see cut-and-paste, MMS, and any number of long-awaited iPhone features with the new release.

Re: Live blog: iPhone OS 3.0 preview

the list of fixes is absolutely impressive, the phone is going to be near perfect holy crap. I just picked one up this week too, gave up my BB Curve for it and it replaces me 8gb touch as well. The last issues I will have with it:

-unable to pull regular mp3's off it like flash drive with out a third party app (all ipods)
-iTunes
-no wallpaper background

otherwise pretty insane job of listening on Apple's part, hopefully all the features deliver well and don't cause crashing like OS 2.0 did

Well it's an improvement, but really things like c/p and mms has been standard features on others phones for years now, but hey it's here.

Though proper multitasking, missing flash, proper bluetooth support and the locked down platform, is still a big no go for me. But maybe in version 4, then hopefully they have also released an iPhone with a proper camera and min. photo light.

Well, there's always a chance that the version 3 HW will support some of this stuff. They seem very resistant to background processing due to battery issues, but hey, a user-replaceable battery might help there ...

Re: Live blog: iPhone OS 3.0 preview

what do you mean by "proper" bluetooth? bluetooth is already there, just so far the only profile it supports is mono headset, looks like A2DP is coming in the next version though, and maybe tethering

profiles for file transfers and syncing over bluetooth are still missing though
