ATI to Launch RS300 Chipset on the 23rd of June

The 23rd of June will be a big day for ATI Technologies and Intel Corporation. We already told you that the latter will release its long-awaited Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHz processor on this date (see this news-story). Today we found out that the Markham, Ontario-based ATI Technologies will formally introduce its latest chipset technology code-named as RS300 on the same date.

ATI’s chipset brand-name is to be unveiled later, but I expect the part to be called as the RADEON IGP 9000 or 9200 since it will feature ATI RADEON 9000/9200-class graphics core.

Thanks to superior performance and features, the code-named RS300 product will be an ideal companion for both mainstream and higher-end Intel Pentium 4 processors, including the yet unannounced 3.20GHz CPU. Just like the i875P, the ATI RS300 will support processors with up to 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus in addition to dual-channel PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory.

Unofficial sources indicated that ASUSTeK, MSI, Gigabyte, FIC, PC Partner and Sapphire will eventually adopt ATI Technologies’ next-generation RADEON IGP product, the only integrated solution to support DirectX 8.1 graphics.
