Windows 7 hardware tax unveiled. Surprised?
Hardware requirements are really unpopular between users since manufacturers scrounge to put the lowest possible hardware spec and promise all the bells and whistles on it. Usually, this means a scam-loving dealer selling a turd of a computer to the consumer and get software performance that smells just the same.

They are as low as they need to be.
Even netbooks have the bare specs needed. Computer makers are not going to have to change anything and just continue to do product revisions like they always have been. This is also very good news just in general that they are the same as Vista! Anyone who has less then these specs need to upgrade anyways and no reason to have to support anything slower. |

Re: Windows 7 hardware tax unveiled. Surprised?
Well not sure about you, but I always kind of think XP runs kind of like crap.
Just something about it just never seemed as smooth as it should be. Like when you open for example control panel you have to wait just a second for the icons to appear and just those random crashes just kind of piss you off. Also XP just seemed to get messed up like on demand lol. So much spyware, malware, viruses etc that just don't seem to show up on Vista/7. Windows 7 really shows XP's age. I am happy to say I have not used XP as a full time OS in a very long time. |

Re: Windows 7 hardware tax unveiled. Surprised?
outside of $$ considerations there is no reason to be using xp anymore. if u got some sort of archaic program that wont run on newer platforms time to move out of the stone age
![]() i do realise there are some purpose specific progs out there that dont do well, but those are very few.

as for the Win 7 requirements, I'm glad to hear that Win 7s requirements are no higher than Vista, and that, from reports, that it actually runs better on the minimum requirements than vista

Re: Windows 7 hardware tax unveiled. Surprised?
Well I just got done installing and testing Windows Xp VM inside 7.
This is a new feature Microsoft is allowing Ultimate and business users to use. You can boot up Xp like a normal VM OR you can install the program in the XP VM and then in windows 7 you can launch the Xp program that was installed and it will run like it were Xp. You even see the big ugly blue bar across the top etc. I did not try anything intensive, but did try AIM and Firefox and both worked good. I think this is very sweet if you were to get something that would not run in 7!! |
