Windows 7 RC gets its first bug, and it's a doozy

Yesterday, Microsoft published Knowledge Base article 970789, which provides details of a problem that affects the 32-bit (x86) English-language version of Windows 7 build 7100. The problem, in short, is that the installer incorrectly sets access control lists (ACLs) on the root of the system drive.

it's 32bit... it needs to fail miserably.... so we don't have to wait for shitty programers to develope 64bit apps

I am sure 7 will be the last 32bit OS.

But think of all the business that may not have 64bit CPU's would be left in the cold. And Microsoft wants business users to upgrade. Maybe what they should do is make a 32bit business edition and a 64 bit.

Then leaving all home users 64 bit exclusive even including the ultimate edition!

64bit cpu's started showing up around 2002/2003.... that's still presents a 6-7 year aproximate period of time for the top of the line initial 64bit cpu's to be useable for win7....it's not abnormal to consder that by about 2004/2005.. nearly every machine was being built with 64bit cpu's..... exluding the idiots that produce prebuilt machines such as compaq and the lot...

No Intel mobile cpu prior to 2006 has 64-bit support.

no intel mobile cpu..... intel was the last to produce a desktop 64bit compliant cpu.... i think the first one was a later generation prescott... so that's a number of years after amd introduced it.

There are amd 64bit compliant laptops the predate 2006....

Yeah, but in 2004/05, it wasn't even close to most machines being built with 64-bit support, Intel-based notebooks are a huge segment of the market.
