Desert Combat v0.38d Released!
A new version of Desert Combat is now available for download, bringing this Modern day combat Battlefield 1942 mod to v0.38d. This new alpha release provides compatibility with the recent BF1942 v1.4 patch, and "features a slew of bug fixes and additions aimed at creating one of the best war game experiences on the PC" (read full story for details).

cool. I'll have to get it then... Road to Rome is the one you have to pay for right? Isn't that stiull just a mod? EA sux, man paying for a mod, when RTCW gives you a whole game for free!! That tells you something.

Yes, Road to Rome is just a mod. But, technically so is the full version of Battlefield1942, Medal Of Honor, Soldier of Fortune2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Jedi Knight2 also, I believe. They're all a heavily modded version of Quake3.

Yes, true- they are all mods of Q3 engine. But they are their own "games". BF doesn't use the quake engine though does it? I thought it used a proprietary "Refractor 2" engine. (which is why I thought it sucked so bad in the beginning)- it is getting much better now with the latest patch and mods coming out- it's almost playable now! Anyway, I thought Desert combat was a separate mod you had to pay for this whole time! Duh, I should have just looked anywhere to see that it wasn't, I guess I'll have to try it out-- I am very impressed with the Eve of Destruction mod, I played it for about 4 hours last night and had allot of fun!

As far as I know BF1942 runs in the Q3 engine, a very botched one.

What is this guy talking about when he says this?
"The game uses a proprietary engine named the Refractor 2," here" http://www.worthplaying.com/article....e=thread%23url I always thought BF1942 used a different engine though, hmmm they mention it here too- 3rd paragraph down-- http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/ba...w_2805926.html I never knew the name of ot before I looked- but I think they developed the "refractor 2" engine for BF1942-- I think that's why it was so damn buggy at first.
