French 'net piracy' bill passed

A controversial French bill which could disconnect people caught downloading content illegally three times has been passed by the National Assembly. The legislation, backed by President Nicolas Sarkozy, was surprisingly voted down by the Assembly last month.

Looks like we are in 2009 BC.I know "piracy" is a bad thing but warning and cut service off people doing that that's utterly insane

Maybe after some time they should be thrown in jail as well as killers and criminals.

All you have to do is:
1. take control of your internet connection. companies around here automatically password wireless routers these days so you're protected out of the box
2. not download copyrighted material illegally

I don't think that's asking for much. At least in the US, ISPs have already been monitoring p2p traffic and will send you letters telling you that you downloaded illegal material.

I was under the impression they only forwarded notices they got from RIAA/MPAA?
