Six months later, no ISPs joining RIAA piracy fight
Last December, the music industry's message to song writers, publishers, and musicians was that antipiracy help was on the way. Hopes soared after the major labels announced that they had convinced a group of telecoms to work with them.
Six months later, the music industry is still waiting to hear from the RIAA which ISPs have explicitly agreed to work with the association. When the RIAA first announced its new antipiracy project, it didn't name partners. Behind the scenes, industry insiders assured the media that the group would disclose the names of partner ISPs "within weeks." Six months later, however, not one ISP has publicly acknowledged working with the RIAA on a "graduated response." _______________ Source: CNET

Re: Six months later, no ISPs joining RIAA piracy fight
I found a funny thing about illegal sharing of music. In the past (years ago) I would download an illegal copy of a song or rarely an album. Usually from someone I would never buy it anyway. Then I would listen to it once or something and never listen to it again. I wouldn't go out of my way to share it but i wouldn't delete them immediately either. I continued buying albums and the rare single from time to time, say 5-15 CDs a year.
Fast forward to the last few years and I find myself that I can't be bothered with new music. For example over the last 12 months I bought the latest AC/DC album (Black Ice, which is good in case you wonder), and two more albums for the life of me I can't remember their titles now. And that's about it. I could afford it (till recently) but didn't care enough. I don't even care to try/download any album or song. I mean, nothing, like I don't like music anymore. But I do like music and I listen to many that I have, every day. I guess what I am trying to say is, I am getting old lol.

Re: Six months later, no ISPs joining RIAA piracy fight
it's funny that no one has until just recently actually raised the question so really obviously there isn't people clamering over each other to stop the piracy.
And yes, the quality of music has been absurd.. I recently bought an album.... over the internet.. through a private deal.. cost me 5 bucks.... 22 songs... Wasn't through ebay or anyone i know at all.. but there are artists now that are not only able to produce their own music, but able to sell it without labels or physical merchandise floating around in the real world. 5 Bucks, for a complete album, high quality Mp3 (768kb/s so i'm guessing mp3 pro or lossless?)... seriously, the rediculious cost of a single shitty cd with 12 give or take 5 songs, is in the 20+ range.... some as much as 30+....
