Google chief executive Eric Schmidt has quit Apple's board of directors because the search giant's business is increasingly competing with Apple's. Apple boss Steve Jobs said that had Mr Schmidt stayed on, crossovers between the two firms' projects mean he would have to leave chunks of meetings.

ten bucks says that Google and Apple had a discussion about this to save both of their asses and that's why apple is taking harsh action. Plaine and simple if you think you're going to be investigated for fraternizing with the enemy and you still want do but don't want to get caught, fake a huge falling out so everyone leaves you alone. Then at the end of the day the FCC gets to step in and be the "fight" settler, approve all of the apps that Apple was most likely going to put on the express lane anywho and everyone can still pretend that nothing is going on . But whatever, I personally think its great. Pretty smart move by Google IMO. Just jailbreak your iPhone and load google latitude onto your phone....simple
