OTTAWA — At the start of this decade, Nortel Networks was perhaps the most hated company in Canada. The collapse of technology stocks combined with an accounting scandal destroyed the widely held telecommunications company’s share price and, with that, the savings of thousands of Canadians.

Is this what's called "astroturfing"? One telecommunications company (RIM) creating a feeling that it's in the national interest that bits of Nortel interesting to them don't fall into the hands of their rivals (Ericsson)?
