How To: Upgrade Windows Vista To DirectX 11

DirectX is the most important interface between the graphics card and a computer game. It is this API that allows game developers to write their code without having to worry too much about the hardware in the gamers’ computers.

DirectX 11 is the newest version of the API and it offers the greatest range of features. If you’re already running Windows 7, you’re all set, since it’s included with Microsoft's latest operating system. But what about the thousands upon thousands of gaming PCs still running Windows Vista? After all, having taken a fair bit of criticism for the way it handled DirectX 10, Microsoft says it has learned from its past mistakes and promises to do better this time around.

and that languages doe not appear to be English..

does not work as supposed anyway - nothing showing up in WinUpdate

I haven't tried this lately (only tried it when it came out, in September), but Microsoft said it'd release the non-beta version in time for Windows 7, for normal Windows Update download. It's possible that the beta download has already been removed in anticipation of that.

Just tried it again and it only showed after 'check for updates'

that is the first WinUpdate you have to manually kick go looking for updates!

OK, maybe i am missing something but why would people bother with all this nonsense when you can just grab the following file and get DX11 installed through that? Download details: DirectX Redist (August 2009)

The article actually seems badly researched because Win7 users still need to install the same update for the latest DX11 games... its not just a case of "its included so it works".
