Carbon nano fuel cell to give 40 hour operation

ANXIOUS ROAD WARRIORS constantly checking the battery on their notebook to see how much time they've left to panic are looking forward to fuel cells, big time.
During this year, a number of firms have showed off prototypes of fuel cells for notebooks and now NEC claims it has a viable commercial design too.

According to the Nihon Keizei Shimbun, NEC's fuel cell -- again released next year -- will give 40 hours of operation, cost the same as a lithium ion battery, and weigh around 900 grams.

The paper said NEC has made elctrodes using carbon nanohorn, which it describes as similar to a carbon nanotube and with filaments each with a diameter of between two and three nanometers. The filament like structure will allow for an overall expansion of the surface area of the fuel cell.

From what I've read, fuel cell batteries arn't recharged, but rather 'refilled'. They run off of a mixture of purified liquid hydrogen.
They sound super cool, but I could probably never get used to 'refueling' my laptop

There are many fuel cells that run off of the significantly less leak prone and less explosion prone methanol... I do hope that these are of that kind, though methanol is pretty poisonous...
