DFI comes with mini-ITX P55 motherboard

Today was the first time that DFI have publicly admitted they have a LanParty Mini ITX board on the way. We've known about it for quite some time now, but weren't allowed to say anything - today we can bring you some exclusive photos of the DFI MI P55-T36 Mini ITX motherboard.

So it's a P55 board with 1 PCI-e 16x, two DDR3 slots, 3 SATA, 1 eSATA and 8 USB ports.

Perfect for a small gaming rig, I would expect that it will appeal to the lanparty crowd.

However, I do see one possible discrepancy in the spec, it states 6 phase pwm, but I only see 4 in the screenshot.

I guess you're right, but I can't think of any powerful gaming cards right now that would be small enough to justify this Remember you've got to leave room for ventilation.

Just look at DH's recent review of a MATX media rig (I forget the brand) with a GTX275, the card really loks huge in the case. And that's a much bigger case than most mini-ITX ones.

On another note, I wonder if there'll be any overclocking room on this... a mini-ITX overclocking board is a niche that, to ny knowledge, is currently empty.

One of the most popular mini ITX gaming cases is the Sugo SG05, and it will limit you to 9 inch long cards. I think you can get a decent mid-range gpu for that size. But yes, I see your point, the really powerful gpus won't be practical.

It would be nice if it can overclock, but realistically speaking, it is asking a bit much for the DFI P55 mini-itx board, because it is quite well known that not a whole lot of power can run though these small boards due to the limited power phases that can fit on the board. Plus the fact that Lynnfield cpus are 95W TDP, not low power by any means.

I know of a couple of mini-itx boards that offer modest overclocking - Zotac 9300 ITX for Intel cpus and the J&W MINIX 780G for AMD cpus. But then again, these can take advantage of the lower TDP cpus - 65W for LGA775 and 45W energy efficient AMD cpus.
