Desktop 865 notebook emerges

SOME NOTEBOOKS ARE already using dual DDR memory, it has emerged.
Canadian company Eurocom has what it says is a mobile workstation that uses a dual DDR chipset and is already shipping.

This notebook, marketed as the D800P Dream Machine, uses ATI's Radeon 9600 PRO, FSB 800 CPU and this is obviously a desktop version, as notebooks don't support these kind of front side buses yet.

Eurocom notebooks support Intel CPUs up to 3.2GHz.

The chipset is the i865 Canterwood, and the firm's notebook also supports RAID, up to 320GB, it claims.

This desktop replacement will be good for many users who like to lug about both work and games.

But we don't know what the battery life is like.

We're waiting to see which firms adopt ATI's dual DDR 400 Radeon 9100 IGP, a proper mobile chipset.
