Chrome edges out Safari in browser usage

Google's browser has passed Safari in terms of worldwide browser usage--at least by one measurement.

NetApplications' measurements of browser usage share, which track which browsers individuals use based on visits to the company's network of Web sites, gave Chrome the third-place spot after No. 1 Internet Explorer and No. 2 Firefox for the week of December 6 through 12, according to a Computerworld story Tuesday. Chrome had 4.4 percent share to Safari's 4.37 percent.

Re: Chrome edges out Safari in browser usage

Chrome is good, no doubt. However, I just cannot live without many of the extensions and customizations in Firefox. Chrome does have some extension support (in developer builds), but it is meant as more of a minimalist browser.

Google Chrome rules , my second choice is firefox but chrome is much faster and user friendly and by the time everything firefox has over chrome it will be delivered to chrome like add ons.

Re: Chrome edges out Safari in browser usage

I'm using Google Chrome ONLY because Internet Explorer is SLOOOOWWWW and Firefox keeps erroring out on me, I'm not sure what's up there it just randomly closes whenever it wants so finally I switched to Chrome and honestly I don't like it it's slow to surf the web, it's slow to download files, I mean I got 1-2mbps with Firefox now I get around 100-150kbps if I'm lucky from the same host sites around the web. But whatever I can say it is 100% reliable not one single crash since I installed it.

It sounds like your computer has some major problems. There is no reason your downloads should be significantly slower on any browser. However, page rendering itself is dependent on the various browser engines (Chrome does seem to be fastest).

Is your rig 100% stable (try prime95)? Have you cleaned out any malware (try spybot & ad-aware)? If firefox continues to crash, your profile may be corrupt. Try uninstalling firefox and removing all of your profile data. Then reinstall.

Re: Chrome edges out Safari in browser usage

Yeah I'll have to try that and yes my PC is 100% stable with no malware of any sort, I keep my PC in tip-top running shape....Not really but she's clean it's actually under clocked at the moment because my Power Supply is buggering out on me.

I think the fan sensor is dead it revs up then slows down and heats the entire PC and vice versa just at random moments. Sad part is I can't afford a new one so let's hope it doesn't explode!
