I'm guessing that they did this because they thought that with OpenCL physics on the way, the technology that's only available on one brand of cards might fall out of fashion. This way, they get to extend it's lifespan as well as sell a few of their cards to owners of ATI GPUs.

They did this because there was a hack anyway to enable it. I always wonder why there is not software emulator for Physx to work fully on the CPU or Ati GPU , or maybe this would be considered illegal.

Oops, I didn't notice the updates 2 and 3. I made a totally n00b mistake, I looked up PhysX on Wikipedia last night and that's where I found this. The article I posted was stated as the source and seeing links to other sites confirming the find there, I thought it was fine. I should have known better than to trust what I read on Wikipedia.

I suppose Tyrsonswood gets the cigar.
