WinAmp is the most widely used software for playing MP3s. WinAmp2x isn't just a MP3 player, it also plays, WAV, OGG, MID(I), MPG and AVI files along with many other popular A/V standards, including audio CDs. It's fully customizable from the EQ to skins –- supporting tens of thousands of skins, which can be found at http://classic.winamp.com/skins. WinAmp2x also includes the ability to rip music from audio CDs in both WAV and OGG format –- intergraded into WinAmp2x is its own web browser.

Why WinAmp2x? Because most people report that it is far less buggy than WinAmp3. Sure, there are drawbacks as to skinability, but, you're using WinAmp2x to play music, not to sit there and drool, right? One should also note that WinAmp2x, unlike 3, is not developed by AOL -- it is solely developed by the original creators of WinAmp, Nullsoft.

this is not a final version, but a beta and it does has some bugs.
