Google in Street View fight back
Berlin - Google Inc is defending its Street View feature against sharp criticism in Germany saying it has gone a long way to address people's privacy concerns.

Google's vice president for Northern and Central Europe, Philipp Schindler, told Thursday's mass circulation daily Bild the company had found a unique data security agreement with German agencies as early as in 2009.

Schindler said that only in Germany are consumers given the right to opt out of having their homes shown on Street View before the feature has even started.

So what is the whole problem? If people don't want it, they let their home be removed from streetview..

What's even worse is some of the tards in the comment box, One of them managed to find houses for sale using StreetView which will have saved him a lot of petrol/gas because he didn't have to go driving round to find houses.

Burglars won't use StreetView to survey a property before they rob it, Because any criminal that decides to case a joint is pretty pro and there's not much you can do to stop professional thieves. I don't know about many other places but up this end of the UK it's just smash and grab without bothering to look twice at the place.

I use StreetView to find parking before i go to places, It's really useful and combined with the maps i can get a route straight there and know what the place looks like so i can't miss it. How many times have you been reading a map or following your satnav, arrived somewhere and gone "Is this it?"

I don't even understand how that is possible.. I mean, how old is the data in streetview anyway?! It is not like it gets updated once a week or something. There is a good bet that all the houses for sale have been sold, houses look different etc.

I always use streetview to get a better understanding how a certain street looks like before I actually go there, so I am sure I won't get lost.
