Asus Transformer will come to India in June

NEW DELHI: Alex Huang, Asus country head, on Thursday told TOI Tech that the company would launch its 10.1-inch tablet, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, in India by the end of June.

The tablet was launched in the US and several other markets a few days ago. Due to its comparatively cheaper price — $399 as compared to $499 for iPad 2 — Transformer became a runaway hit and sold out on online stores like Amazon within hours.

"Our original plan was to launch Transformer in India in May but we are facing supply issues due to component shortage after the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan," said Huang.

I still can't find one of these things. The North American release was so small that all stock got eaten up before it even hit the distributors floor.

BTW, just a run down of prices up here (Canunck buck):

16GB unit = $399
32GB unit = $499
Dock = $150 (that dock in the picture is sold separately)

10.1" WXGA LED IPS panel (1280x800), 1GB memory, Android 3.0 (Honeycomb OS), and a 9.5hr battery (16 with dock) running on a Tegra 2... suffice it to say, I want one.
