Asus Mars II Surfaces - triple 8 pin pci-e connectors.
The card uses two NVIDIA GF110 GPUs with the same core configuration and clock profile as GeForce GTX 580, effectively making MARS II a dual-GTX 580, which also provides the overclocking headroom of a GTX 580...

Re: Asus Mars II Surfaces - triple 8 pin pci-e connectors.
I think it's probably a pretty positive thing from Nvidia's point of view. It hands them the "money no object" performance crown without everyone shouting at them for the insane TDP - because they didn't make it.
Also, keep in mind when reading the source articles that TPU probably produced the most negative of all the 590 launch reviews.

That is one fat bastard card. Will it scale?

Re: Asus Mars II Surfaces - triple 8 pin pci-e connectors.
You mean is it quad SLI ready? I think so - it has the connector at least, and it just uses 590 drivers. Of course, two of these overclocked in a high-end system and you're well into dual PSU territory.

Re: Asus Mars II Surfaces - triple 8 pin pci-e connectors.
if i remember right, the power reqs of 2 580s isnt much higher than a standard GTX 590.
im sure a good 1200w PSU would do the trick...

Re: Asus Mars II Surfaces - triple 8 pin pci-e connectors.
580s can use about 225W in games and 325W in FurmarkF@H.
So for SLI, you can assume a worst case scenario of 450W/650W. The 590 can use 350W in games. We don't know how much it will use in Furmark/F@H because nobody's managed to disable the power limiter on the 590 as has been done on the 580. [Source for power usage figures.] So depending on how you measure it the difference in power consumption between 580 SLI and a 590 is between 100W and 300W. Of course, this Asus card won't use as much power as 580 SLI - it has better VRMs and it shares a lot of componentry that is replicated in a discrete SLI setup.
