The "official" driver page

links to versions now listed as 8.01

And also to Intel Priority Packet II / 3 - the addon which can count or selectively drop certain incoming packets, or prioritize outgoing.

Outgoing priority has 3 possible methods.
1. Intel HPQ - the adapter and drivers have two packet queues, one at high priority, the other at low
This method requires only adapter support, and only alters outgoing queueing of the adapter (ineffective if the adapter is not the point of congestion). It can be combined with either of the remaining two methods.

2. IPTos - (type of service)
Priority Packet supports two Type of Service (ToS) tagging methods:
· Differentiated Services Codepoint (DSCP)
· Legacy IP Precedence

The two are actually comparable, and may be honoured or ignored by any devices passing these packets.

3. 802.1p/802.1q Tagging
802.1p/802.1q tagging alters the packet structure from the standard type 2 Ethernet frame by adding an additional 4 bytes of data to the packet. Internetworking hardware (hubs, switches, bridges, and routers) that is not compliant to the IEEE 802.1p standard won't interpret the altered packet structure and is not compatible with 802.1p/802.1q tagging.
