IDSA out, ESA in as trade body changes name

The Interactive Digital Software Association, which represents game software publishers in the USA, has officially changed its name to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), effective immediately.

The trade body, which among other things owns the E3 show and conducts a variety of anti-piracy, government relations and research programs, is due to celebrate its tenth anniversary shortly.

According to organisation president Doug Lowenstein, the change is designed to add "a clarity and focus that will enhance our ability to represent the industry", and it follows consultation with the industry, the media and government representatives.

As a result of the name change, the organisation also has a new website, which you can find at www.theESA.com. If you're trying to email someone at the IDSA, note that email addresses have changed accordingly - just put "@theESA.com" in place of "@IDSA.com" in the email address to get the new one.
