The amulet and mask were a 13-year-old boy's virtual possessions in an online fantasy game. In the real world, he was beaten and threatened with a knife to give them up.

that's really the only sentence they can give kid.

Right, 144 hours of community service for the theft, but what about the physical assault and battery on the kid? Since it's a virtual item they robbed him off I'm sure the prosecution decided not to go with first degree robbery or aggravated robbery (or the equivalent over there), but they should have at least been charged with assault and battery too.
