AMD DX11 Leo Demo
For those of you that haven't seen it yet, AMD has posted its DX11 Leo demo for anyone with the hardware to run it. The demo weighs in at 733MB but you shouldn't have any issues getting it, the link is pretty damn speedy right now. I'll have a video posted soon for those of you that want to see more than just screenshots (in the Link Above).

Re: AMD DX11 Leo Demo
that's pretty epically impressive considering that being realtime...... there are studios trying to render the same thing out in software over the course of several months.
And i'm pretty stoked to see the return of some realtime demos! The last good one was the snow bording event... i didn't see a wheres waldo cameo of ruby though in this

Re: AMD DX11 Leo Demo
Cute and impressive. I've always loved ATI (and now AMD) demos.

Re: AMD DX11 Leo Demo
With my respect why can't games that uses the latest technologies like the ones shown in the tech demo exist, I won't buy a new card only to play a minute or less demo.

Re: AMD DX11 Leo Demo
So why we still care about tech achievements if it won't see the light soon anyway.

Re: AMD DX11 Leo Demo
The idea is that this is a glimpse into what the cards are capable of. Most games (even PC exclusives) have to not use any tech that wasn't available 3 or 4 years ago - otherwise 8800GTX users and the like won't buy the game.
For the most part, the sense in buying new hardware lies in increased performance (higher resolutions, bigger textures) and efficiency, rather than new tech.

Re: AMD DX11 Leo Demo
actually the 8800GTX has newer tech than the consoles.... terms of functions/features and capabilities...

Re: AMD DX11 Leo Demo
Well, I just ran it and it worked fine on my 6950 in full HD glory.
As for the wireframe mode, nothing of the sorts is available now (unless there is a sushi.ini key that does that), but they say that the version 1.1 of the demo will feature the "Educational Mode", so maybe that will show the wireframe.

Re: AMD DX11 Leo Demo
I downloaded and ran this some time ago last week. Although it's "cute" and it does exhibit some very nice features to show off what might be coming down the pipe, to me, it's still too "cartoon-ish" where I'd really rather see more "realistic" displays of features.
I'd much prefer to see something like an aerobics exercise that looks like a real person doing the huffing and puffing, clothing that flaps and wrinkles, and real drops of sweat beading up on the body and falling off at intervals; perhaps all to the tune of some jazzy music playing in the background that helps the exerciser keep the pace. Cartoons just don't do that much for me these days. I want to see realism on my PC. |
