A 23-year-old man died in an Internet cafe in New Taipei City (新北市) after 10 straight hours of gaming on Tuesday and police said yesterday they were shocked to find complete disinterest from the other gamers in the cafe during their investigation.

That's freaky, Really freaky.
Just goes to show how games really can rope people in so thoroughly. You know that feeling when you check the clock and 8 hours of your life just suddenly disappeared when you're playing WoW or CoD? Just imagine what it's like for these guys when they realise entire days have disappeared, When you're at that point you probably see the world behind a HUD

I do know that feeling Mousey, but I still don't really get how people sustain the kind of lifestyle that can lead to this - financially or psychologically.

Back in 2007 a 26 year-old man in Liaoning province up in Dongbei dropped dead after gaming for 15 days straight, while a South Korean man aged 28 died in 2005 after 50 hours, or just over two days, in front of a computer playing Starcraft.

Kind of makes me rather terrified, My sleep pattern was left behind over a year and a half ago when i first joined dominos and i routinely stay up all night because i flat out can't sleep

Allnighters aren't particularly dangerous, just not good for you. I regularly skip a night or two, or go a week without more than 4 hours sleep in a night. I've been doing that for a long time now, and it doesn't appear to have done me any harm. It's neglecting yourself (e.g. not sleeping when you really need to) that has bad consequences.

Working evenings for Pizza Hut has changed my own sleeping pattern, too. But, I've mostly just developed staying up several hours after I get home and then sleeping around 6 hours or so before having to go in to work.

The biggest problem to this is getting family members to realize that I DO need to sleep before I go to work. That means sleeping during most of the daytime hours. I think I've finally gotten it through to them that if I don't sleep before work, it causes problems with me staying awake behind the wheel when making deliveries.
