Scientists make 10-inch carbon nanotube display breakthrough

A TEN INCH work display using carbon nanotube field emission techology has been demonstrated in Taiwan.

The Economic News of Taiwan said that the display was developed as part of a collaboration between a division of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the government sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI).

The newspaper said that the ITRI developed the carbon nanotube materials, the printing of the screen, and the anode-cathode plate sealing.

The report said that the ITRI unit will transfer the technology to Taiwanese firm Delta Optoelectronics, but other manufacturers on the island have also expressed interest in the low power nanotech.

Other Asian manufacturers including Samsung, LG, and NEC are also currently experimenting and testing prototypes using the carbon nano technology.
