SiS announces 800MHz FSB mobile SiSM661FX chipset

Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) today announced the SiSM661FX, an 800MHz integrated core logic chipset for notebooks.

The SiSM661FX chipset will support all Intel Pentium 4 CPUs and be pin-compatible with previous SiS models, lowering development costs for system builders. The SiSM661FX will support data transfer rates of 6.4GB/sec, DDR400/333/266 memory and a VGA throughput of up to 3.2GB/s using DDR400, transcending the former 2.1GB/s standard speed provided by AGP 8X.

Mass production will commence in August, while finished motherboards are projected to be available on the market in September, according to the company.
