Intel Celeron 2.70GHz to Come This Month?

Intel Corporation notified its customers about Intel Celeron processor 2.70GHz to be released on the 24th of August. On the same date the Santa Clara, California-based semiconductor company will lower the pricing of existing Celeron processors.

Advanced Micro Devices of Sunnyvale, California, the world’s second largest x86 processor maker, will definitely feel nasty in late August when the Celeron 2.70GHz with 400MHz Quad Pumped Bus and 128KB of L2 is set to debut at $103 price point. AMD adjusts the pricing of AMD Athlon XP microprocessors according to Celeron pricing, even though the Athlon XP chips are considerably faster than comparable Celeron CPUs that are cheaper cut-down versions of the Intel Pentium 4 processors.

The rest Intel Celeron processors in the family will drop in price from 7% to 14%, resulting in Celeron 2.60, Celeron 2.50, Celeron 2.40, Celeron 2.30 to cost $89, $83 and $79 respectively. The entry-level Celeron processors at 2.20GHz, 2.10GHz and 2.0GHz will also decline in pricing a bit to $69 for the former pair and $64 for the latter chip respectively.

AMD Athlon XP 2700+ chip costs $137, but will probably fall to $103 later this month.
