Powerchip Semiconductor reports July revenues up 31% on-month
Taiwan-based DRAM maker Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC) yesterday announced July net sales of NT$2.12 billion, a high for this year. With new production capacity provided by 0.13-micron processing, the company’s July net sales rose by 31% month-on-month and 105.4% year-on-year.
Company spokesperson Eric Tang said that PSC’s 256Mbit DRAM shipments grew more than 15% in July from the previous month on increasing 0.13-micron output from its 12-inch fab. At the same time, growing DDR400 output helped boost PSC’s average selling price (ASP) by more than 10%. Slight increases in foundry output and foundry wafer ASP also contributed to the rise in revenues. Tang added that PSC’s output ratio and yield on its 0.13-micron process are rising rapidly and DRAM prices would be supported by rising motherboard and PC demand. ______________________ Source: DigiTimes |
