ATI and Nvidia, what is the value?

Ever wonder what the value of the two big graphic companies are? As of noon EST today, ATI is now the bigger company in terms of market capitalization (number of shares outstanding times share price). This is the first time this is the case in a very long time.

NVIDIA market capitalization 2.485 Billion US Dollars Info here
ATI market capitalization 2.739 Billion US Dollars Info here

YES!!!!!!!!!

YEAH!!!!!!! About time the money matched the reality of the situation. My congratulations and gratitude to ATi, I have never seen a company turn themselves around the way that you folks have. You just seemed commited to focusing on the customer and giving 'em what they want and I'm damned glad you're being financially rewarded for all your hard efforts. Kudos, nicely done.

ATI really didnt jump out in front, its only that NVidia annouced negative Q3 outlooks and NVDA has dropped $3.5 per share or nearly 18.5% of stock price today. With 159.1 Million shares out... on paper they lost $556 Million since this morning. They will rebound shorty, the market is like that.

Me post about it at nVnews, thread at R3D, thread at Beyond3D, and of course the front-page of Elite Bastards. (Oh, and a a thread on the conference call crap at R3D that's kind of fun too )

Bad news travels fast, eh?

Magic Knight pointed out this though over at R3D and I don't know enough about financials to really know what he's talking about:

No it doesn't. The link only shows the Nasdaq values.
Overall, Nvidia may still be worth more since they are traded on more stock exchanges worldwide.
Nvidia's traded in 10 major stock exchanges worldwide:
Berlin, Dusseldorf, Xetra, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich, Stuttgart, London, and Nasdaq
In comparison, ATI is only traded on 7:
Berlin, Frankfurt, Xetra, Munich, Stuttgart, Toronto, and Nasdaq

Edit: whoops, only listed 6 for ATI...
Valid point?

No not valid at all. That is 100% incorrect and the number of stock markets you trade in is not indicative of the number of shares you have outstanding.
A company issues a fixed number of shares and those shares can be bought and sold in any stock market globally.

Well it's holding up well as a counter-argument too, so I don't blame ya.

Hmmm, mebbe I should send an e-mail to nVidia to see if'n they're ready to learn how to fix what ails them....
