Three Taiwanese DRAM makers ahead of schedule on advanced processes
Three major Taiwanese DRAM makers are vigorously moving ahead of their schedules for advanced production processing as they try to take full advantage of the current upswing in the DRAM market.
Nanya Technology is expecting 10% of output from its 8-inch Fab 2 to use 0.11-micron processing by year-end, sources said. At Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC), monthly 12-inch input using 0.13-micron processing is expected to reach 15,000 wafers in August and 22,000 by the start of 2004, compared to in September and the early second quarter of 2004 originally planned, according to sources. Winbond Electronics is also reported to be about two months ahead of its previous schedule for production upgrades. The company has started pilot runs for 8-inch wafer production using 0.11-micron processing, and is now projecting a monthly input of 5,000 wafers on the process in the first quarter of 2004, according to sources. ______________________ Source: DigiTimes |
