Deskjet 9650, PSC 2410 and PSC 2510 — HP's new printers

HP company announced a new Deskjet model aimed at business use, Deskjet 9650, with a resolution of 1200 dpi, featured parallel and USB connectivity. There are two other models — Deskjet 9670 (includes an auto-duplex unit) and the Deskjet 9680 (includes a PostScript RIP CD). Pricing for the base Deskjet 9650 is set at $399, with availability in September 2003.

Print speed of the model is up to 20 ppm black and 15 ppm color in Draft mode (up to 6 ppm black and 4 ppm color in Normal mode), resolution — Up to 1200 x 1200 dpi black text, up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi for color printing. Supported paper sizes are: Letter, legal, super B, tabloid, executive, statement, A2 envelope, No. 10 envelope, Monarch envelope, letter banner, tabloid banner, custom sizes: 3.54 x 5.75 in to 13 x 19 in.

Dimensions of the model — 23 x 15 x 7 in, weight — 24 lb.

It is not the only model announced. Two other printers, HP PSC 2410 Photosmart All-in-One and HP PSC 2510 Photosmart All-in-One are combo-devices, which feature the functions of a printer, scanner, fax machine and copier.

Both the PSC 2410 and PSC 2510 support Memory Stick, Compact Flash, Secure Digital, Multimediacard, xD-Picture Card and SmartMedia memory cards through slots in the front of the chassis, and have built-in 2.5-inch color LCD displays for previewing images to be printed. The HP PSC 2410 Photosmart All-in-One will ship in September at a price of $299, and the PSC 2510 PhotoSmart All-in-One will follow in October at a price of $399.

As for printing speeds of HP PSC 2410 Photosmart All-in-One, they are up to 21 pages per minute (ppm) in black and up to 15 ppm in color, black text resolution: up to 600 x 600-rendered black dpi on inkjet paper. Scan specifications: copy and scan photos, documents and books with the A/A4 flatbed scanner design, 1200 x 2400 optical-dpi, 48-bit color. While copying user can reduce and enlarge images from 25 to 400 percent, copying speed — up to 21 ppm in black and up to 14 ppm in color.

Printer dimensions are 19.0” (w) x 15.4” (h) x 9.3” (d), weight — 18.36 lbs.

HP PSC 2510 Photosmart All-in-One — supports built-in wireless (802.11b) and wired Ethernet embedded home networking for up to five home computers. Almost all the specifications of the model are identical to those of HP PSC 2410 Photosmart All-in-One. The only difference between them is connectivity.
