Dell unveiled Pentium M-based Inspiron 8600
Dell extended its notebook Inspiron series with Pentium M-based Inspiron 8600, which will include several versions with 1.3, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.7 GHz (i855PM chipset).
<img src="http://www.hardwareheaven.com/dom/news/dell/dell/inspiron_8600.jpg" width="400" height="322"> Inspiron 8600 has 15.4" TFT LCD with WXGA (1280 x 800), WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) and WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolutions supported. Looking for the chipset we can say that the series will use PC2700 (DDR333 SDRAM). It is known, that 1.6 GHz-based model will have 1 GB RAM (maximal capacity for the systems – 2 GB). The most advanced model is equipped with 80 GB HDD (Ultra ATA/100). As for the graphics, new notebooks will have MOBILITY RADEON 9000 32 MB, optionally it can be changed to GeForce FX Go5650 128 MB or GeForce4 4200 Go 64 MB. As for the interfaces, the set is rather usual: 10/100BASE-TX, IEEE 1394, USB 2.0 (2 ports), S-Video out, CardBus Type I/II etc. It is worth mentioning such standard features as IEEE 802.11b/g and Bluetooth support. The most advanced model has built-in combo CD-R/RW & DVD-ROM drive. As it is mentioned, Inspiron 8600's battery life is about 4 hours. The dimensions of the notebooks are 359 x 274 x 38 mm, weight (depending on HDD/optical drive set) is about 3.3 kg. ______________________ Source: Digit-Life |

I don't care too much for the wide-screen design but maybe I'm just an old sk00ler who prefers consistancy/reliability over change.
