Review: Chaintech GeForce FX71 5600 Ultra!

NVIDIA's GeForce FX chipset has been, for the most part, well accepted in the gaming community, a fine achievement on NVIDIA's part. Its latest graphics processor introduces newer features for better game play. Using 0.13u process technology, the FX chipset provides significant speed increases.

But while the new FX graphics processors are the latest and greatest from NVIDIA, there has also been a lot of talk about the integrity of the company itself. Rather than just building a video card to out-perform ATI's latest Radeon, NVIDIA decided to 'enhance' its drivers for benchmarking tools such as 3DMark 2003.

To much surprise, those 'enhancements' have been patched by the makers of 3DMark 2003, leaving many to believe 3DMark 2003 is an untrustworthy benchmark tool on which to base the continued life of the company. Stronger emphasis has been placed on benchmarking tools to provide valid scoring of what the consumer NEEDS to see before making a decision on purchasing. It is a slow change, however. As of now, hardware sites like ipKonfig.com use more realistic benchmarking tools such as demo versions of popular games on the market.

We're going to analyze this video card with an open mind, as our personal opinions about NVIDIA are not very strong one way or the other at this time.
