ViperLair has reviewed Highpoint's RocketRAID 1542 card with two SATA ports and two eSATA ports. Also reviewed is the RocketMATE 1100, which should make for an interesting read...
- SATA is here, and here to stay. Not everyone currently has the capability to run SATA drives from there motherboard, although if you bought your motherboard in the past 6 months then chances are you do have SATA onboard. But what if you don't? Well you can always upgrade your motherboard, but if you're happy with your system and don't want to upgrade … well all is not lost. Another good thing about SATA is that it can make for a quick and easy external storage medium, but of course you would need either a SATA to e.SATA adaptor, or a card capable of giving you e.SATA ports. This review is going to be a review of 2 halves, looking at a couple of peripherals from Highpoint that can give you all the above. Today we shall be looking at the Highpoint RocketRAID 1542 Four Channel PCI host adaptor and the Highpoint RocketMATE 1100 e.SATA External IDE Enclosure.
