Two 52x32x52x CD-RWs reviewed

There's one on the MSI CR52-M 52x32x52x CD-RW at ClubOC...
  • I have purchased at least 5 different CDRW drives in the last 2 years. Each new model has been quite a bit faster, at 16x, 24x, 32x, 40x, and 52x. It seems that the speed race has come to a grinding halt with 52x for CDR burning. Recently the CDRW burning speed has been bumped from 24x, were it has been for a while, to 32x. I am co-owner of a recording studio and use quite a bit of CDR media for testing mixes in the car or at home. I have tried using CDRW's but it just took too long. At the slower speeds, even 24x, I tend to loose patience and just opt for burning a CDR to save time. When I heard I was going to review the MSI CR52-M 52x 32x 52x burner I was pleased, but skeptical. The thought of having a faster CDRW burner is exciting, but will it burn a CDRW start to finish at a decent enough speed? I plan on finding out right now!

And another one Lite-On LTR-52327S CD-RW at TechwarLabs...
  • CD Burning has come a long way since its inception. The first burner that I bought was an HP 8100 4x4x24, and that was fast. Back then, and even as recent as only a year or so ago, speed benchmarks mattered immensely when comparing drives with the same speed ratings, but ever since the advent of the 40x line of burners, speed tests have mattered less and less. With 52x burn speeds, it is not the minor speed differences (a few seconds here, a few seconds there) that matter. What matters is that the quality of the burns stays consistently high when writing at such speeds, and quality is that on which the review will focus - so let's see if the Lite-On 52x32x52 drive is up to scratch!
