AMD’s Sales Have Been Encouraging So Far

AMD Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Robert J. Rivet presented at the Smith Barney Citigroup Technology Conference yesterday at the Hilton New York Hotel in New York. During the presentation Mr. Rivet discussed certain forward-looking and other material information about AMD’s business now and in future. Even though no really important statements about AMD’s future processors (the topic interests you the most, doesn’t it?) have been made, there are some that still worth a mention.

“[Sales in] July and August were encouraging, but September is the key for us,” said AMD’s Chief Financial Officer. He also told the auditory that the company was seeing some signs of the improvements around the industry. However, the exec declined to increase the co’s quarter guidance at this point.

The top executive confirmed that AMD maintained its 20% market share in the x86 processors market and expects the figure to grow further in 2004 due to adoption of the firm’s Athlon 64 and Opteron microprocessors. He said that the company had been working closely with its chipset partners, including NVIDIA, VIA and SiS, to ensure that there are right chipsets and platforms for every market AMD serves or will serve with its future CPUs.
