Sony Puts $719 Tag on PSX Game/Entertainment System

MAKUHARI, Japan (Reuters) - Sony Corp said on Tuesday it would launch the "PSX" -- an entertainment system boasting a satellite TV tuner and DVD recorder plus its PlayStation 2 game player -- in Japan later this year at a minimum price of 79,800 yen ($719).

wtf, no way a satellite tuner and a dvd-r should increase price that much.

you got to be kidding. have you checked on prices on stand alone dvd recorders recentley. with a 120gig hd? throw in a ps2 & basically a hub for your multimedia that will connect to the internet &/or lan & i think it is a bargain.
this all depends on implementation & design of course. the hd is not going to be as useful without some sort of service like tivo or replaytv.
this thing has a lot of potential, will be interesting to see if sony can deliver the full package.
