AMD Duron Applebred vs. Athlon XP Thoroughbred

Recently AMD introduced its new Durons. We test the 1.6 ghz version. The most interesting part of this cpu is its core voltage, only 1.5 V. It is begging to be compared with an Athlon XP TbredB, dlt3c (known for reaching speeds up to 2700Mhz!). Is the new Duron an equally good overclocker ? Maybe even better ? Find out in this review at Madshrimps!

System Specs

Well, not bad for a cheap CPU, and bridging one link may bring the cache back to full T-Bred size (though it seems the results of this are variable, so some of the cores have good additional cache, while others do not)

Main drawback, if the Duron 1600 is equivalent to a cache-clipped Xp1900, you have to ask if the price differential is actually worth it!

If you get one that hacks into a full T-Bred, the story is a little different of course!

Eh, but to think these chips are less than $50, I think that is impressive enough performance at that low of a price.
