Default Post DH Exclusive!!! Screenshots of Windows Messenger 5 in Action (56k Warning!)

I have figured out how to make Windows Messenger 5 work

Only one problem......it only stays signed in for mere seconds. A minute at most

While it was open I grabbed a screenshot of the new interface...hope you like it

@dek from Fileconnect has been good enough to provide a good fast link to this new build.

For more info read <a target="_blank" href="http://www.fileconnect.net/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=981&mode=&o rder=0&thold=0">here</a>

this is where to get it

http://michael.ibeta.org/khujo/MSN5v0317.zip

be patient its a lil slow

and heres how to make it work.....albeit as I said for only a short time

open regedit and search for

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger

click on that folder in Server add

messenger.hotmail.com;64.4.13.246:1863

and in TestServerEcho add messenger.hotmail.com;64.4.13.246:1863

now it should work

Here's a link for Messenger 5 that works for XP, a smaller dl without the installs for other OS's.

http://michael.ibeta.org/khujo/msnmsgs.zip (from the afore-mentioned server)

I've tested it myself.

Default Post This is what I like!

This is what I absolutly LOVE about this place.

Being able to get the latest and greatest programs and updates before everyone else. I love this place.

I downloaded messenger and it works. It mightn't for long but at least it works and we can get to see what it's going to look like.

Great work guys. Keep it up.

There's another server address floating around:

msgr-cs135.msgr.hotmail.com;64.4.13.243:1863

but this gives the same behaviour. I've tried different combinations (like setting the server to the usual one and then using one of the others as the test echo server but no joy).

There's GOT! to be a way round this.

different name on it but the same ip/port combo hmm

I posted my theory in the other thread bout 1073 but im feeling this is a problem with the server setup........i think ms is doing internal only on this puppy for now which would explain the no server setting be default and the fact that it doesnt overwrite your old build of Messenger

And if that's the case they are going to know who's on the test program, so a group of unathorised users popping up on the server are going to be noticed!!! Maybe we shout wait a bit

well im no genius or anything but i got msn5 to work for more then 5 seconds. what you do is in the same place where you do the editing in the registry, i added the msgr-cs135.msgr.hotmail.com;64.4.13.243:1863 string in the http gateway. dunno if anybody has any suggestions on making it last longer. msn5 rocks if only it lasted longer

all that does though is add a different information string

look real closely

you are still connecting to the same IP at the same port

any difference you experience in time is pure coincidence and part of a "placebo" effect

ive had it last from 2 seconds to 1 min 3 secs
