Janusz has posted a link to a fix for MSN Messenger 5.0 beta, so that you can stay logged in. The fix is available here.

I'm not trying to rude at all... just stating that it's also in the tech forum so you might want to close that thread or delete it or whatever.

theres a reg file out thats been posted around that has a better server to connect to

it does lag a bit on sign in I will admit but it works

so after you install the exe hacked file use this instead of the one in the rar file

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger]

"TestEchoServer"="nexus.passport.com;64.4.59.234:1 862"
"Server"="nexus.passport.com;64.4.59.234:1862"

copy and paste that in a txt file and call it MSN5 Signon Fix.reg

import it to the reg reboot and start er up

Is anyone getting crc errors on that .rar file didtrubuted as the men5_workaround fix i cant extract anything and i have tryed d/l ing it from everywere its the same file same crc error if it helps anyone im using winace to extract the files

the archive is fine, try using winrar 3 to extract it, or clear your cache first and then try redownloading it to get a fresh archive.

Is this MSN mesengar any different / better then the previous version and is it just MSN messengar of is there other files that obtain to thangs .NET or somthin?

I think it will be much better by the time its in final status....the interface is similar to that of MSN explorer 7 but prettier.......but basically same color scheme

Personally I like the new sounds and look of it.........very stable too......only issue is the fact that we are having to use a slower passport server to sign in

Eh, I didn't like the new sounds at all.. I'm just using 4.7, and keeping a zip with the old sounds for when final comes out.

For anyone else having problems with the crc errors and are trying to unrar using WINACE, download the updated unrar.dll file. The link is to the official WinAce site, so there's no worry about it being a hacked version.

Just right-click and save the file to your WinAce directory, overwriting the old one.

Hope this helped people.

Ok is this new messengar really worth d/ling i mean from what i heard it dosent even work and then if it does only for a few minutes! And thats with registry hacks

MSN 5 didnt work for me either, and im positive all the reg entries where correct, I think that the reg entries leading to servers might work on a location basis. its the only logical thing I can of. The MSN network I know is split into area locations. perhaps im wrong, to which point im sure ill be corrected soon enough

I have tried several times to install msn msg 5.0 on win xp pro and no go. says it did not install.

any ideas
