ATI, Intel, Nvidia Hold On To Graphics Share
Each of the three top graphics chip companies -- ATI Technologies Inc., Intel Corp., and Nvidia Corp. -- could find something to crow about in third-quarter market share data released this week.
Intel remained on top in terms of total graphics chips sold, if integrated chipsets were factored in. Nvidia sold the most standalone graphics chips, while ATI dominated the standalone notebook graphics market. "That's been the order of things for some time," Mercury analyst Dean McCarron said of the three companies. "The change in the desktop market has been twofold: ATI is far more competitive than it used to be, and there are some changes happening. The biggest overarching change is the increase in the integrated market." Mark Hachman - ExtremeTech More Info here Source: Yahoo! News/Ziff Davis Technology |

Nah.....there are too many sheep out there getting there decisions made for them. They just buy a computer with what ever it has in it. But if ATI is able to continue having the best graphics cards and are able to pull off a performance lead like it did when they introduced the 9700 Pro.....then there market share will increase very nicely. And with them getting more and more notebooks with there graphics chips in there, that will help as well. Only thing left that would really make a huge market increase would be if they were able to make a mother board for the Athlon 64 and FX-51 that would give high performance in much the same way that nVidia did with the NF2 boards. So far I really haven't seen a mother board that impresses me for the new AMD chips. Maybe when the second generation of boards come out for the 939 pin chips, something will stand up above the other's. It sure would be nice if it were ATI that did it. With there driver support and R&D teams.....a mother board made by them would be unstoppable!!

Many games? You are being optimistic, Neon. I can not get anything but 2D games to work on those damn intel chips at a playable rate.
