New Site Poll: How much do you spend on hardware?
Just opened a new front page site poll to ask our members just how much they spend each year on hardware, are you addicted? or are you cautious? Do you have to own the newest, fastest, most expensive hardware?
Make sure to cast your vote and discuss in this thread ! |

I personally just upgrade when I find a component that faster and that I can benefit from. I'm not much of a person who changes everything at once.

I usually purchase something everypayday. I havent for like a month now though. I got paid yesterday and am dying to go and get something that will give me more speed. I dont really think there is anything though. I'm thinking I will go and buy a motherboard for a 64bit processor. Unless someone has any sugestions for a good upgrade. And dont say a 9800!!! I would if I dident allready get the FX waterblock.

must say i spend a fair bit.£350 on my current rig alone.a few gpu in the last 15 months.thats without including things like ram, fans etc.
need to spend a little to get my other bits & peices for my old rig so i can then atleast sell to get a bit of the cash back. |

Ive only spent about 180 on my Radeon 9500 Pro, only money I ever spent on hardware. Will bump that up to about 2500 once I get my own PC next year.

I don't spend nearly as much now as I did 3 - 6 years ago. It seemed during that time, so much was leap-frogging what was then current, that less than 2 - 3 months later what was purchased was already out of date. (Sometimes as quickly as you opened the package of whatever you bought!)
Technology seems to have tapered off a wee bit so that it's not as important to me to have the 'latest/bestest' whatever is on the shelf. If I were to project some items I'd like to get in the near future the list would include: 1. Newer digital camera. My Kodak DC 3400 is still serving me quite well, but, it's over 3 years old now and the newer cameras have features and quality that are quite enticing. 2. Newer/faster CPU and faster system memory. I'll have to upgrade my mobo, as well. 3. Maybe 6 months from now, a 9800 XT once the prices drop to my personal affordable price range. Beyond those things, I'm really quite pleased with how everything else is functioning. |

I only spend about $500 a year, maybe more.. I would spend about $1000 if I could, just not in the position to right now. There is always going to be something faster, I'm happy if I can play current PC games w/ 4xAA and 16xAF at a reasonable framerate. Also my internet/ tv cable bill is well over $1200 a year. And is going up every year (seems like every 6 months they raise the price)-
Things like speakers, monitors, PC cases, hard drives seem to have a longer useful life than things like CPU's, Video cards and System memory. Right now I need faster ram and a faster CPU and I'll be happy for a while- maybe a year or so.
