Plextor PX-708A DVD±R/±RW Recorder Goes 8X
4x burning not fast enough for you? then check this baby out !
The race for Xs is still on and Plextor has gone into the lead with the PX-708A, what Plextor claims is the first commercialized 8X DVD recorder. At this speed, a 4.5 GB DVD+R takes under 9 minutes to record. That is about the same as a CD in just over a minute. What we wanted to know was whether the reliability and compatibility of blank supports suffer from this breakneck speed. Read here |

Wow
Yamaha F1 died $139 (CD-W) & then they went out of business with CD ROM's, my sorta luck. I bought the very first Plextor ever put out (CD-R x2, tray loader), believe it or not -It still works, but not setup on a web based system, it's an OLD Fart system {%S}
![]() Solid & reliable product, should have stuck with them; but the Industry high end standard at the time was Yamaha..haha is now the dead drive! It's worth taking a wee peek @ newegg.com & Plextor, Sony or Lite On. I don't own stock in the company, but it's the best deal and RMA {just watch out for a DOA business, I guess}. Plextor costs a bit more, but well worth it; a long lasting product. If anyone is interested I can add some links for free software, that's proven to work for DVD-R+R drives. Nice heads up thread. Cheers
