Video BIOS Shadowing and Caching
My good buddy Adrian over at Rojakpot has just emailed me to tell me he has updated his bios guide. This guide really has been of so much help to thousands of people and if you are finding the array of options in your bios bewildering, I suggest you head over and have a good read to educate yourself.
"Phew... Finally managed to finish updating the descriptions of Video BIOS Shadowing and Video BIOS Cacheable. Believe it or not, I spent two days working on those two BIOS options. Why so long? Well, check them out and you will see that I have completely rewritten them. They should now clear any ambiguities that may have surfaced since the last update." Read it here |

I have those options Disabled on both of my machines. (Per Omegadrive's very nice BIOS Tweak Guide.
)I wonder if that's why I don't get so many crashes in my games? Hmmmmm..... |

Yes, His BiosGuide alway's has been a good help for many, and to me also
keeping Videobios uncached & unshaded, should always be done, if you flash with them enabled, you'r asking for trouble, learned it the hard way

Right now it's free and you can voluntarily donate.
As for the options, I always had them disabled mainly because I flash my BIOS when a new update comes out. |

There may be some deluxe content that you have to pay for.
Not entirely sure if it DOES work the way indicated - LOCKING the entire segment into cache. Back when I used to dabble in the settings of my old CYRIX CPU, there were options to select cacheable or non-cacheable for various areas, but that was only to allow or disallow - it didn't force it to be cahed if it wasn't in use - there were other options for write combining, write ordering etc. |
